Development History of Iron Can and Metal Tank

    The metal can of iron can is a variety of metal containers or metal handicraft products which are made of related sheet metals and used for packaging. According to row shape, it can be divided into circular tank, square tank, special-shaped tank, hand-held tank and heart-shaped tank. According to the forming process, it can be divided into two cans and three cans. It can be divided into food cans, tea cans, medicine cans, daily necessities cans, chemical barrels, CD boxes and so on. Among them, the largest number of food cans, such as candy cans, biscuit cans, beverage cans, etc.
In 1795, Napoleon awarded 12,000 francs to anyone who could find a way to preserve the food supplied to the army.
In 1809 Nicholas Appel, a confectioner, came up with the idea of preserving food, such as wine, in glass bottles. After years of research, the French government awarded 12,000 francs for inventing a way to preserve food by disinfecting it.
In 1810 King George III granted Peter Durand a patent for preserving food in glass, earthenware or metal jars.
In 1812, Thomas Kensett, a British immigrant, established a small factory in New York to produce sealed canned oysters, meat, fruits and vegetables.
In 1825 Kensett obtained the patent for the first tin can in the United States.
Alan Taylor was granted a patent for stamping tinplate cans with extension edge machines.
Henry Evans was granted a patent in 1849 for a pendulum press capable of producing canned covers in one run. Production increased from a small amount to 50 cans per hour. In 1866, E.M. Lang obtained a patent for sealing cans by manufacturing or welding cans.
In 1870, France began to print colour patterns on tinplate.
In 1872, Baber introduced tinplate printing technology to Britain.
Arthur A. Libby and William J. Wilson invented trapezoidal cans in Chicago in 1875 to preserve salted beef.
Simple canning machines appeared in 1877
Semi-automatic can-making machine first appeared in 1880.
In 1898, George W. Cobb Fresh-keeping Company perfected three cans. In 1903, canned interior coating appeared.
In 1905, the production technology of canned food was introduced into China, and Shanghai Taifeng Company began to produce canned food.
In 1917, tinplate printing technology was introduced into China, and a small amount of tinplate products were produced by commercial press.
